The Daleville Gate MuralThe
mural, which was commissioned by and is on the property of
George
and James Kerrigan, was painted by Wes Hardin of Dothan,
Alabama
in August of 1999. The mural includes a collage of scenes from
photographs
taken by George Kerrigan during his tour in Vietnam.
It
measures eight feet tall and is 90 feet in length.
The
section below shows James C. Jones, George J. Kerrigan and
David
S. Johnson, three fellow veterans of the Vietnam War. This section
shows
them with an OH-23 "Raven" helicopter that Jones and Kerrigan flew
during
the war. Johnson flew a UH-1 "Huey" for the Brigade Commander.
The
"Eagle's Nest" is the 3rd Brigade Aviation Section of the
101st
Airborne Division, where all three flew.
The
section below depicts just a few of the many helicopters that
perticipated
in the Vietnam war; the Hughes OH-6 "Cayuse",
the
Bell UH-1 "Huey", and the Bell AH-1 "Cobra".
The
section below is a montage depicting the National Vietnam Veteran's
Memorial
Wall located in Washington, D.C. Superimposed over The Wall
is
the Statue of the Three Servicemen.
